These categorised views are best effort. They are read from the published minutes by a program, and what it can attribute to a committee depends on how each resolution happens to be worded — so a page may be incomplete, and nothing here overrides the minutes themselves. The raw minutes are the source of truth.

Please note. The board approves the minutes of a meeting at the meeting after it, and they are published then - so the most recent meeting is not usually here. ASF Members can read the draft in the board's own repository until it is.

## Description:
The mission of Apache Kvrocks is the creation and maintenance of software
related to a distributed key-value NoSQL database, supporting the rich data
structures.

## Project Status:
Current project status: Ongoing
Issues for the board: None

## Membership Data:
Apache Kvrocks was founded 2023-06-21 (3 years ago)
There are currently 30 committers and 13 PMC members in this project.
The Committer-to-PMC ratio is roughly 2:1.

Community changes, past quarter:
- No new PMC members. Last addition was Aleks Lozoviuk on 2025-05-06.
- No new committers. Last addition was Xiaojun Yuan on 2026-02-24.

## Project Activity:
In recent months, the Kvrocks community has been working on support for the
hash field expiration feature. Basic support is now complete. We will release
it once the feature is sufficiently stable and complete.

In addition, the community is preparing for the release of version 2.16.0.

## Community Health:
This quarter, the number of issues remained the same as last quarter; the
number of PRs increased by 50% compared to last quarter.

This indicates that contributions are more active than ever before. Part of
this is due to the impact of AI, making it easier for people to contribute.
Unfortunately, however, most of these contributions cannot be merged because
the contributors themselves lack the relevant knowledge and rely solely on AI,
making communication between them and the community difficult.

Community changes, past quarter:
- No new PMC members. Last addition was Aleks Lozoviuk on 2025-05-06.
- Xiaojun Yuan was added as committer on 2026-02-24

## Project Activity:
Apache Kvrocks 2.15.0 was released at the end of February. Xiaojun Yuan was
invited to become a new Kvrocks committer in recognition of his contributions
to cluster-related features, in February.

Recently, Kvrocks development has been focused mainly on clustering, including
optimizations to master-replica replication. There has been less progress in
other areas. In terms of Redis compatibility, the main improvements have been
support for more Redis commands and compatibility with Redis’s multi-database
mechanism.

## Community Health:
In terms of data, the number of issues was similar to the previous quarter,
but the number of PRs dropped by 30%. It seems there was a certain decline in
contributor activity during this period. Kvrocks may need some fresh momentum
and new demand to attract broader participation. This is also related to the
fact that several key maintainers, myself included, have had less time to
devote to the project due to work and other commitments.

## Description:
The mission of Apache Kvrocks is the creation and maintenance of software
related to a distributed key-value NoSQL database, supporting many data
structures as Redis.

## Project Status:
Current project status: Ongoing
Issues for the board: None

## Membership Data:
Apache Kvrocks was founded 2023-06-21 (2 years ago)
There are currently 29 committers and 13 PMC members in this project.
The Committer-to-PMC ratio is roughly 2:1.

Community changes, past quarter:
- No new PMC members. Last addition was Aleks Lozoviuk on 2025-05-06.
- Rongxing Xiao was added as committer on 2025-10-04

## Project Activity:
In November, Apache Kvrocks released version 2.14.0. In October, Apache
Kvrocks Controller released version 1.2.0. The Controller is currently
preparing the 1.3.0 release.

Over the past few months, the community’s progress has been relatively steady.
There haven’t been many particularly exciting milestones, but a lot of
development is ongoing. The Timeseries and TDigest features have attracted
some new contributors, who are refining these features and adding support for
more Redis commands. Rongxing Xiao was nominated as a committer in October for
his work on supporting the Timeseries data structure. There was also another
committer nomination in October, but the nominee declined the nomination for
various reasons.

## Community Health:
The number of PRs hasn’t changed much. The number of issues has decreased a
bit, which I think is because there are fewer tracking issues. A single
tracking issue can lead to the creation of many issues.

I think the community as a whole is running smoothly. We’re considering adding
support for hash field expiration, but the community has not yet reached a
consensus on the technical approach. I hope we can resolve this in the coming
months.

- Agnik Misra was added as committer on 2025-09-09
- Rongxing Xiao is voted to become a committer on 2025-10-01 (in ICLA process)

## Project Activity:
In August, Apache Kvrocks released version 2.13.0. The community also elected
a new committer, Agnik Misra.

As part of GSoC, a contributor (Agnik Misra) developed a brand-new Web UI for
the Apache Kvrocks Controller, through which they became a committer.
Meanwhile, in the ongoing OSPP program, a contributor (Rongxing Xiao) is
collaborating with community members to add support for the timeseries
feature—an important enhancement that enables Kvrocks to be applied in
time-series processing scenarios.

In addition, community members have worked on optimizing and improving
replication, with support for the WAIT command further strengthening
replication reliability.

## Community Health:
The number of PRs and issues has not changed much compared to the last three
months. However, we have identified several active contributors, and we hope
to see more committers appear in the Kvrocks community in the near future.

Community changes, past quarter:
- Aleks Lozoviuk was added to the PMC on 2025-05-06
- Edward Xu was added as committer on 2025-04-29

## Project Activity:
In the past quarter, two versions of Apache Kvrocks (2.12.0, 2.12.1) have been
released. The PMC voted for a new committer and a new PMC member (previously a
committer of Kvrocks).

The t-digest data structure in Kvrocks is currently in developing and expected
to be released in the next version (probably 2.13.0). And we are participating
OSPP for seeking students to join the development of the timeseries module of
Kvrocks.

Also, we are participating GSoC and a student is joining us in developing the
new Web UI of Apache Kvrocks Controller. And it is expected to be released in
the next version of the controller.

## Community Health:
Overall community health is good. We have about 105 new PRs (11% increase)
and 39 new issues (69% increase) in this quarter.

And I believe that, with the participation of GSoC and OSPP, more new
contributors and community members will appear and join our journey.

Community changes, past quarter:
- No new PMC members. Last addition was Xuwei Fu on 2024-03-22.
- No new committers. Last addition was SiLe Zhou on 2024-10-19.

## Project Activity:
Apache Kvrocks has just released two versions in the past quarter, 2.11.0 and
2.11.1, where 2.11.1 is a patch release and includes one security fix of
CVE-2025-25069, while 2.11.0 includes a big feature, Kvrocks Search, for
secondary indexing and complex queries.

Currently the community is focusing on adding the support of the TDigest data
structure. Besides, we are participating GSoC to seek more
contributers and students to join the development of Kvrocks.

Also, Apache Kvrocks Controller has released version 1.1.0 in the past
quarter, with the support of an embedded Raft storage.

## Community Health:
In the past quarter, the opened PRs have -6% decrease and issues have -35%
decrease. But I am optimistic about this since we are participating GSoC (and
also OSPP in the near future) so more developers will be involved.
Also, there is at least one developer that we will open a committer vote soon.

Community changes, past quarter:
- No new PMC members. Last addition was Xuwei Fu on 2024-03-22.
- SiLe Zhou was added as committer on 2024-10-19

## Project Activity:
In the past quarter, the PMC has released Apache Kvrocks version 2.10.0 on Oct
6th, and version 2.10.1 on Oct 24th.

Recently, Kvrocks has added support for the Hyperloglog data structure in the
new version (2.10.0) and is now compatible with most of the Redis stream group
related commands. In addition, Kvrocks is working on strengthening transaction
and atomicity support to improve transaction guarantees for features such as
scripting and secondary indexing.

Kvrocks Search (including secondary indexing and vector search) functionality
has been further improved, which is expected to be released in the next
version. Additionally, Kvrocks Controller now has preliminary Web UI and Raft
support, with more updates planned for the next version.

## Community Health:

The issues have decreased (-25%) but the PRs have increased (+2%) in the past
quarter. I believe the community is steady and healthy.

Although the community's activity has not increased significantly, I can still
see some active newcomers in the community. In addition, Kvrocks Search and
major updates to Kvrocks Controller should enhance the attractiveness of
Kvrocks for people who are looking for Redis alternatives.

Community changes, past quarter:
- No new PMC members. Last addition was Xuwei Fu on 2024-03-22.
- Beihao Zhou was added as committer on 2024-09-07

## Project Activity:
In the past quarter, the PMC has released Apache Kvrocks version 2.9.0 on Jul
9th, and also Apache Kvrocks Controller version 1.0.0 on Jul 14th.

Recently, the community is working on the development of Kvrocks Search (which
supports both SQL and RediSearch query syntax), and its basic functions are
already available in the unstable branch. In addition, community members are
adding vector search capabilities to Kvrocks Search, which is based on the HNSW
indexing algorithm. Also, the stream group feature has been fully supported and
will be shipped in the next release. And the OSPP project for
enhancing transaction capabilities is also underway.

## Community Health:

The issues/PRs have decreased (-25% / -26%) in the past quarter, mostly since
some heavy initial Kvrocks Search tasks have been finished in the last quarter.
I believe the community is steady and healthy.

We believe that with the gradual release of Kvrocks Search and
the vector search capabilities, Apache Kvrocks will be able to attract
more users through more expressive queries and as the first
open source RediSearch on-disk alternative.

- Xuwei Fu was added to the PMC on 2024-03-22
- No new committers. Last addition was Ji Huayu on 2024-01-23.

## Project Activity:

Apache Kvrocks has released 2.8.0 in the past quarter. The community is
planning the next release, as well as the first release of its subproject:
kvrocks-controller.

For the Kvrocks part, the notable feature is that Kvrocks now supports
RedisSearch basic commands, the most popular module in the Redis stack. I
believe this feature will make a lot of users happy. Apart from new features,
we're active in resolving bugs and security issues found by the community. And
for its sub-project: kvrocks-controller, we're mainly focused on refactoring
to make it production-ready, and it's ready now.

The community also actively participates in GSoC and OSPP(Open Source
Promotion Plan) to attract more contributors.

## Community Health:

The issues/PRs have decreased (-26% / -8%) in the past quarter because we're
focused on developing the RedisJSON module which involves many new commands
and contributors. I believe the community is steady and healthy.

And from the user side, we're proud to know that the open-source
project: CVAT has adapted Apache Kvrocks to replace Redis. Also, the famous
development tool: wakatime uses Apache Kvrocks as its cache.

Besides, Kvrocks got much more attention as an alternative replacement for
Redis.

Apache Kvrocks just completed the release process for 2.8.0, it supports many
new Redis commands, as well as the notable feature of the RESP3 protocol which
makes significant progress to make Kvrocks compatible with the Redis protocol.

In addition, the community is working on the RedisSearch module, and we look
forward to seeing RedisSearch in the future release.

## Community Health:

Overall community health is good. We have got 6 new contributors now, and the
development traffic(Pull Requests +7%) is slightly increasing compared to the
last quarter. The community also actively participates in GSoC and OSPP to
involve more contributors in the Kvrocks community.

Below is our full metrics:

- dev@kvrocks.apache.org had a 19% decrease in traffic in the past quarter (26
  emails compared to 32)
- 53 commits in the past quarter (-25% change)
- 13 code contributors in the past quarter (44% increase)

## Project Activity:

The last release of Apache Kvrocks 2.6.0 was on 2023-09-26, and the 2.7.0
release vote is planned to be sent in the middle of December. During the last
quarter, we mainly focused on implementing the new data structure JSON and now
is close to done. In addition, some of the user-heavy-request features like
the namespace replication will also be introduced in 2.7.0, guess they will
make many users happy since then.

At the same time, the community also donated kvrocks-controller as a
subproject of Kvrocks, which will make the cluster mode easier to use and
maintain.

## Community Health:

Overall community health is good. The total number of contributors is more
than 100 now, it's a small milestone for the community.

The development traffic decreased greatly(-43%) in the last quarter. The main
reason is we have many bug fixes in release 2.6.0, which held up the count of
contributions and contributors. The number of bug reports has been back to
normal since then, so I think it's fine.

## Project Activity:

Apache Kvrocks completed the release process for 2.5.1 on 2023-08-05 which
fixed some critical bugs, and we're now planning the next minor version. It
will include some notable features like:

- Supports the restore command which will make Redis to Kvrocks process more
  smooth
- New Commands like LPOS/LASTSAVE/MPUBLISH, and so on

At this time, we're focusing on the development of the new data structure:
BloomFilter and JSON.

## Community Health:

The overall is healthy and good, more and more committers are active to help
review and drive PRs. We're now putting our efforts into attracting more users
and contributors by enriching the economy of Kvrocks, like supporting the
restore command to make the migration process simple and smooth. As well as
building projects like kvrocks-operator and kvrocks-controller to help users
manage Kvrocks deployments.
