Board history: Lens

Lens

What the board has decided about this committee or office, and the reports it filed, most recent first. Generated from the published minutes.

These categorised views are best effort. They are read from the published minutes by a program, and what it can attribute to a committee depends on how each resolution happens to be worded — so a page may be incomplete, and nothing here overrides the minutes themselves. The raw minutes are the source of truth.

Please note. The board approves the minutes of a meeting at the meeting after it, and they are published then - so the most recent meeting is not usually here. ASF Members can read the draft in the board's own repository until it is.

## Activity:
A bug fix and few improvements suggested by one of the contributors.

## Health report:
As we saw on the roll-call, PMC is active and responsive. The project is
being used in at least one of the organizations that we know of, where it is
being used in sustenance mode with occasional changes being made. We are
looking at two of the contributors who are making occasional contributions as
prospective new committers. Project has not been actively looking for new
committers or PMC, as existing committers and PMC are responsive. But PMC has
not done an outreach to users to get them more engaged.

Lens is a platform that enables multi-dimensional queries in a unified way
over datasets stored in multiple warehouses. Lens integrates Apache Hive
with other data warehouses by tiering them together to form logical data
cubes.

Lens has been incubating since 2014-10-10.

Three most important issues to address in the move towards graduation:

We had discussion about "where is Lens with respect to graduation" on dev
mailing list. Most of PPMC and mentors feel that Lens is ready to
  graduate. http://s.apache.org/rYP

We intend to start preparing the graduation vote, following the
  discussion.

Any issues that the Incubator PMC (IPMC) or ASF Board wish/need to be
aware of?

  NONE

How has the community developed since the last report?

There have been many new contributors showing interest and participating

Alan Cabrera (adc):

Very good report; an exemplar of how reports should be done. The
community seems very active and healthy. IMO, only items 1 & 2 are
  required for graduation.
