What the board has decided about this committee or office, and the reports it filed, most recent first. Generated from the published minutes.
These categorised views are best effort. They are read from the published minutes by a program, and what it can attribute to a committee depends on how each resolution happens to be worded — so a page may be incomplete, and nothing here overrides the minutes themselves. The raw minutes are the source of truth.
Please note. The board approves the minutes of a meeting at the meeting after it, and they are published then - so the most recent meeting is not usually here. ASF Members can read the draft in the board's own repository until it is.

### Three most important unfinished issues to address before graduating:
1. reactivate the build system that was phased out because of expired
cloud credits - Nuvolaris provided the resources and we requestes also
2. create a self-contained distribution that builds from sources -
already in place a kit to do that creating images in a local docker and the
loading into a cluster
3. embed tasks in the cli binary as we cannot distribute something that
self-updates from the cloud
### Are there any issues that the IPMC or ASF Board need to be aware of?
we are asking for resources to AWS to test in cloud
### How has the community developed since the last report?
New contributors and more adopters, including cloud providers like the
Italian Government Cloud, the Polo Strategico Nazionale and 2 cloud italian
### How has the project developed since the last report?
We are completing the major features like the devcontainer and the embedded
registry for custom actions auto-created

### When were the last committers or PPMC members elected?
### Have your mentors been helpful and responsive?
Yes
Are things falling through the cracks? If so, please list any
open issues that need to be addressed.
We need more visibility in the international community. We have huge
visibility in Italy but basically absent outside.
### Is the PPMC managing the podling's brand / trademarks?
Are 3rd parties respecting and correctly using the podlings
name and brand? If not what actions has the PPMC taken to
correct this? Has the VP, Brand approved the project name?

Comments: Can we have an update on release ? The podling seems to
struggle about growing the community and very low activity on the mailing
lists. It would be great to have an update and plan.
- [X] (openserverless) PJ Fanning
Comments: No obvious progress on a 1st release and podling is nearly 2
years old. Mailing list traffic is minimal. Really just GitHub automated
msgs. I would disagree with the report's assertion that the podling is
nearing graduation.

Since the last report the project was extended / improved by: - adding a [devcontainer](https://github.com/apache/openserverless-devcontainer) with a development environment integrated inside the platform. - adding an [Admin API component](https://github.com/apache/openserverless-admin-api) with some REST api (for authentication purposes and for building custom runtime images on the fly) - replacing MinIO component inside the operator with SeaweedFS (which is under Apache License 2.0) ### How would you assess the podling's maturity? Consolidation and alignment of the documentation site project. 3. The verification of the requirements for the first release is still underway: the project has undergone a series of changes based on community requests. ### Are there any issues that the IPMC or ASF Board need to be aware of? None ### How has the community developed since the last report? - After completing the first course, a second course is being implemented focusing on modern AI topics according to the serverless paradigm. - Opened a Discord server with over 300 users. - Updated the tutorial [OpenServerless Tutorial](https://github.com/apache/openserverless-tutorial). - We are trying to bring the product closer to the user: infact, based on community requests, we have created a version of OpenServerless called "mini", capable of running on desktop systems by scaling down the RAM and CPU requirements, but preserving all the components for local development (from the OpenWhisk controller to the vector database, streamer, runtimes, database, etc.) and installable with one single command. Documented on Apache OpenServerless website. - Recently we published two articles about Apache OpenServerless on [Opensource.net](https://opensource.net). ### How has the project developed since the last report? - 24 issues closed since last update. There are about 30 open tasks, divided between additional features (for which community support is required), bug fixes and new features. - We have spent several efforts in trying to simplify the setup and make it easier and more understandable. - We are aiming to refactor the operator, to make it modular. - Another important challenge is to make OpenServerless task scripts completely cross-platform as well. ### How would you assess the podling's maturity? Assess the requirements for the First Release 3. continue the process of documenting the entire platform. ### Are there any issues that the IPMC or ASF Board need to be aware of? No ### How has the community developed since the last report? 1. The Apache OpenServerless and AI course - currently in Italian - was completed by at least a couple hundred developers and some of them are using actively the platform. 2. The AI course is being extended to support also MCP api. 3. Two new contributors joined the projects. 4. We're in the process of release some videos to show installation on local machines and cloud servers. 5. We've published an article on the [Opensource.net](https://opensource.net/apache-openserverless-is-the-easiest -way-to-build-your-cloud-native-ai-application/) blog. ### How has the project developed since the last report? 1. We improved various parts of the project, fixing bugs and reviewed the documentation. 2. Closed 19 issues. Opened 6 new issues. 3. Improved the OpenServerless streamer (openserverless-streamer), introducing new code and documentation. 4. Preparing an upgrade to OpenWhisk 2. 5. We have opened a new PR towards the Apache OpenWhisk project to support JDK17 based builds. 6. We have added a new openserverless-build project with the objective of preparare OpenWhisk 2 multiplatform images tailor made for our project and we aim to provide a native executable for the standalone component, with the objective of providing a lighter development environment. ### How would you assess the podling's maturity? The Apache OpenServerless and AI course - currently in Italian - is underway: it has involved many people and is a model to be proposed also in English with respect to a larger community. 2. We're evaluating sessions to support those who need it in the installation of the development environment. 3. Finally, we are trying to involve people in the development by proposing them to take charge of some open tasks on GitHub. ### How has the project developed since the last report? 1. Closed 8 issues. Opened 3 new issues. 2. We improved the Kubernetes operator, further optimizing the image size and introducing some new features. 3.
