What the board has decided about this committee or office, and the reports it filed, most recent first. Generated from the published minutes.

These categorised views are best effort. They are read from the published minutes by a program, and what it can attribute to a committee depends on how each resolution happens to be worded — so a page may be incomplete, and nothing here overrides the minutes themselves. The raw minutes are the source of truth.

Please note. The board approves the minutes of a meeting at the meeting after it, and they are published then - so the most recent meeting is not usually here. ASF Members can read the draft in the board's own repository until it is.

## Description:
The mission of Apache TsFile is the creation and maintenance of software
related to a columnar storage file format designed for time series data

## Project Status:
Current project status: Ongoing with high activity. Issues for the board: No.

## Membership Data:
Apache TsFile was founded 2023-11-15 (2 years ago) There are currently 21
committers and 18 PMC members in this project. The Committer-to-PMC ratio is
7:6.

Community changes, past quarter:
- No new PMC members. Last addition was Gaofei Cao on 2023-11-15.
- No new committers. Last addition was Xinhao Gu on 2025-04-22.

## Project Activity:

### Recent releases:
- 2.3.0 was released on 2026-04-27.
- 2.2.1 was released on 2026-03-20.
- 2.2.0 was released on 2025-12-30.

### Main work of project:
This quarter saw significant progress in both feature development and
multi-language ecosystem expansion. The tag filter feature, which enables
filtering conditions on tag columns, has been completed. We also added support
for importing data from Apache Parquet and Apache Arrow formats into TsFile,
allowing users to convert existing columnar datasets into TsFile format with
schema mapping or automatic inference.

On the Python side, TsFileDataFrame was introduced, enabling users to read
TsFile data directly as Pandas DataFrames. Python wheel support has been
extended to Python 3.14, and compatibility with a broader range of NumPy
versions has been improved.

## Community Health:
dev@tsfile.apache.org had a 54% decrease in traffic in the past quarter (35
emails compared to 76). The decline is mainly because development this quarter
was execution-focused — implementing features previously discussed on the
mailing list — and more day-to-day discussions are happening on GitHub pull
requests and issues.

We are currently in contact with the Hugging Face community, working to make
TsFile a first-class citizen in Hugging Face Datasets for storing time-series
modality data. A pull request[1] has been submitted and is under review.

Community changes, past quarter:
- No new PMC members. Last addition was Gaofei Cao on 2023-11-15.
- No new committers. Last addition was Xinhao Gu on 2025-04-22.

## Project Activity:
### Recent releases:
- 2.2.0 was released on 2025-12-30.
- 1.1.3 was released on 2025-12-25.
- 1.1.2 was released on 2025-09-08.

### Main work of project:
Recently, our development focus has been centered on two key areas:
1. Further expansion of query interfaces, adding support for filtering
   conditions on tag columns.
2. Integration into the Python Pandas ecosystem, enabling users to read from
and write to TsFile directly as Pandas DataFrames.

Moving forward, we plan to integrate with Apache Arrow, providing the
capability to read data from TsFile on disk directly into memory in Arrow
format.

## Community Health:
Overall community health is good. The development mailing list saw a great
increase(+182%) in traffic, where the future roadmap of the TsFile project is
being widely discussed and the Python interface ecosystem for TsFile has also
been discussed in detail.

## Description:
The mission of Apache TsFile is the creation and maintenance of software
related to a columnar storage file format designed for time series data

## Project Status:
Current project status: Ongoing with high activity.
Issues for the board: Is there a standard convention
for publishing the Python dependency package of
tsfile on PyPI? Currently, it’s being published under a community
contributor’s personal account.

## Membership Data:

- 2.1.1 was released on 2025-08-18.
- 2.1.0 was released on 2025-07-11.

### Main work of project:
We’ve released two minor versions to fix some issues. The new 2.x interfaces
are mainly designed for the table model. In the near future, we plan to unify
the write and query interfaces, which means the tsfile read/write layer will
need to support both the tree and table models. To achieve this, we need to
explore a way to automatically convert between models — mapping the original
tree-model files to the table model — so that the new interfaces can read and
write tsfile files generated by the tree model (i.e., version 1.x).

## Community Health:
The activity of the development mailing list has seen a slight decline
recently, because there was a long holiday in China for the National Day and
Mid-Autumn Festival.

Hi,

## Project Activity:
### Recent releases:
- 2.1.0 was released on 2025-07-11.
- 2.0.3 was released on 2025-05-26.
- 1.1.1 was released on 2025-04-14.

### Main work of project:
The TsFile project has made substantial progress recently. With the release
of
version 2.1.0, a number of new features have been introduced. Notably, the
Cpp/C/Python implementations now support TsFile Table reader and writer,
marking a significant expansion of the project's multi-language interface
capabilities. We are also attempting to implement some state-of-the-art
time-series data encoding algorithms(like Camel[1]) in tsfile, aiming to
improve the compression ratio of tsfile.

## Community Health:
The activity of the development mailing list has seen a slight decline
recently, still because some discussions have migrated to GitHub issues.

Recently, a research team from Chongqing University specializing in
floating-point number encoding and compression algorithms[2,3] has contacted
the community, expressing their intention to contribute the compression
algorithm published in their paper to the built-in encoding list of tsfile.
The development and discussion process will take place on the mailing list.
Meanwhile, we are committed to making tsfile a favorite in the academic
community. Going forward, encoding and compression algorithms from relevant
papers can all be implemented in tsfile, and end-to-end experiments can be
conducted based on tsfile to form fair comparisons.

- 2.0.1 was released on 2025-02-10.

### Main work of project:
The new read and write interfaces of TsFile for C/C++ and Python are still in
testing progress and almost done. Currently, the Python interface for tsfile
only supports Python versions 3.9 and below. This is because our Python
interface is built using a C wrapper, and Python 3.10 introduced incompatible
changes to the C wrapper implementation. As a result, support for Python
versions above 3.10 is still under active development, and we are working to
adapt the tsfile python interface for these newer Python versions.

## Community Health:
The activity of the development mailing list has seen a slight decline
recently, partly because some discussions have migrated to GitHub issues.
Additionally, due to some feature developments and discussions taking place
internally within Timecho, the company has started sending weekly updates to
the mailing list since last month. This initiative aims to ensure better
transparency and keep the entire community informed about their weekly
progress.

Recently, we have been exploring advancements in time-series large model
training file storage formats. Our work on tsfile, which offers high
compression rates and low query latency, has attracted interest from
contributors of open-source time-series large models on Hugging Face. Some are
experimenting with replacing Apache Arrow with tsfile for storing training
data, leveraging its efficiency advantages. They're trying to develop a
TsFileDataSet based on Tsfile query interface and wishing to join and
contribute to us.
